How to schedule a sale in Shopify and revert prices automatically

Shopify lets you put a single product on sale by hand, but it has no built-in way to schedule a bulk sale across many products and bring every price back automatically when it ends. Here’s how to do both.

The native limitation

You can lower a product’s price and set a compare-at price manually, but for a storewide or collection-wide promo that means editing each variant — then remembering to undo every one when the sale is over. Miss a few and you’re selling at the sale price indefinitely. That manual revert is where most sale-day mistakes happen.

Schedule a bulk sale with automatic revert

Using Revertly, the flow is five steps:

  1. Install Revertly from the Shopify App Store and open it from your admin under Apps.
  2. Create a sale. Pick the products and/or collections you want on sale.
  3. Choose the discount — percent off, a fixed amount off, or an exact price. Real compare-at strikethroughs are set for you.
  4. Set the start and end in your store’s timezone, then review the dry-run preview showing every variant’s new price.
  5. Schedule it. At the start time prices go live automatically; at the end time every original price is restored exactly.

Why the revert is the part that matters

Before changing anything, Revertly records each variant’s original price and compare-at, so the restore is exact rather than a re-calculation. An independent safeguard also watches for any sale that runs past its end and reverts it, so prices can’t get stuck on. You can end any live sale — or every live sale — in one click.

FAQ

Do prices revert on their own?

Yes. At the scheduled end time Revertly restores every original price and compare-at automatically. You don’t have to be online.

What if I edit a price during the sale?

Revertly detects the change and leaves that variant alone instead of overwriting your edit, and flags it on the sale page.

What happens if I uninstall during a sale?

Revert first — once an app is uninstalled it can no longer change prices. Revertly warns you if you uninstall with a sale running, and on reinstall within 48 hours it offers to revert from its saved snapshot.

Does it work for big catalogs?

Yes. Sales apply in batches and resume safely if interrupted. The free plan covers up to 50 products per sale; Pro removes the limit.
